Description

Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 5 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup whole milk
  • 1 can sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 can evaporated milk
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (for whipped cream)
  • Berries for topping (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13 inch baking pan.
  2. Whisk together the flour and baking powder in a bowl until well combined.
  3. Cream the softened butter with sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
  5. Stir in the vanilla extract.
  6. Alternately add the flour mixture and whole milk, mixing until just combined.
  7. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and bake for 25-30 minutes.
  8. Let the cake cool completely in the pan.
  9. Use a fork to poke holes all over the surface.
  10. Combine the sweetened condensed milk, evaporated milk, and vanilla extract, then pour over the cake.
  11. Whip the heavy cream until stiff peaks form and spread over the top of the cake.
  12. Top with fresh berries if desired and serve chilled.

Notes

For a gluten-free version, substitute all-purpose flour with gluten-free flour. Make a day ahead for enhanced flavor.
