Description

Indulge in this delightful Strawberry French Toast Casserole, a luxurious breakfast dish that combines fluffy bread, juicy strawberries, and rich custard for a memorable start to your day.


Ingredients

  • 1 loaf of soft bread (French or challah)
  • 6 large eggs
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 2 cups fresh strawberries, sliced
  • Powdered sugar for serving (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Grease a 9×13 inch baking dish.
  3. Cut the bread into cubes.
  4. Layer half in the prepared dish.
  5. Layer half of the sliced strawberries on top.
  6. In a large bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, heavy cream, sugar, vanilla, and cinnamon until smooth.
  7. Pour half of the egg mixture over the bread and strawberries.
  8. Add the remaining bread cubes.
  9. Top with the rest of the strawberries.
  10. Pour the remaining egg mixture on top.
  11. Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 2 hours (or overnight).
  12. Bake uncovered for 45-50 minutes until puffed and golden brown.
  13. Let cool slightly, dust with powdered sugar, and serve.

Notes

For added flavor, use flavored bread like cinnamon raisin or brioche. Customize with nuts or maple syrup as desired.
