Description

A simple yet delightful no-bulk-fermentation sourdough bread that offers a crunchy crust and a soft, airy interior, perfect for any meal.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/4 cups water
  • 1/2 cup active sourdough starter
  • 1 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. Combine the flour, water, sourdough starter, and salt in a large mixing bowl. Use hands or a wooden spoon to mix until a shaggy dough forms.
  2. Cover the bowl with a damp cloth and let it rest for 30 minutes.
  3. Transfer the dough onto a floured surface and knead for 5-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  4. Shape the dough into a ball and place it in a greased bowl. Cover it and let it rise for 1-2 hours until doubled in size.
  5. Preheat the oven to 450°F (232°C), placing your Dutch oven inside to heat for 30 minutes.
  6. Transfer the dough onto parchment paper, scoring the top with a sharp knife.
  7. Lift it into the hot Dutch oven with the parchment, cover it, and bake for 30 minutes.
  8. Uncover and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes until golden brown.
  9. Remove the loaf and let it cool on a wire rack before slicing.

Notes

You can refrigerate the dough overnight after the first rise to enhance the flavor. Add herbs or seeds for customization.
