Description

Freshly made homemade wonton wraps that are pliable and perfect for a variety of fillings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 egg yolks + 1 whole egg
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/2 cup cornstarch (for dusting)

Instructions

  1. Combine the flour and salt in a large mixing bowl, creating a well in the center.
  2. Whisk together the egg yolks and the whole egg in a separate bowl until smooth, then gradually pour this into the flour, mixing with hands or a spatula until it resembles coarse crumbs.
  3. Pour in the water slowly, mixing continuously until the dough begins to come together, adding more flour if needed to prevent stickiness.
  4. Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and firm, then wrap it in a cloth and let it rest for 20-30 minutes.
  5. Divide the dough into smaller portions, rolling each out on a floured surface to about 1/16 inch thickness, dusting with cornstarch to prevent sticking.
  6. Cut out 3-4 inch circles with a sharp cutter or glass and dust each cut piece with cornstarch before stacking them for filling.

Notes

Consider making a larger batch and freezing your wonton wraps; they hold up well. Customize edges for visual appeal.
