Description
Freshly made homemade wonton wraps that are pliable and perfect for a variety of fillings.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 egg yolks + 1 whole egg
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup water
- 1/2 cup cornstarch (for dusting)
Instructions
- Combine the flour and salt in a large mixing bowl, creating a well in the center.
- Whisk together the egg yolks and the whole egg in a separate bowl until smooth, then gradually pour this into the flour, mixing with hands or a spatula until it resembles coarse crumbs.
- Pour in the water slowly, mixing continuously until the dough begins to come together, adding more flour if needed to prevent stickiness.
- Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and firm, then wrap it in a cloth and let it rest for 20-30 minutes.
- Divide the dough into smaller portions, rolling each out on a floured surface to about 1/16 inch thickness, dusting with cornstarch to prevent sticking.
- Cut out 3-4 inch circles with a sharp cutter or glass and dust each cut piece with cornstarch before stacking them for filling.
Notes
Consider making a larger batch and freezing your wonton wraps; they hold up well. Customize edges for visual appeal.
