Description
Soft, fluffy buns filled with colorful tutti frutti, perfect for breakfast, snacking, or tea time.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup warm milk
- 2 tbsp sugar
- 1 1/2 tsp active dry yeast
- 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1/4 cup butter (softened)
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 cup tutti frutti
- 2 tbsp milk (for brushing)
Instructions
- Activate the yeast: In a bowl, combine warm milk, 2 tbsp of sugar, and yeast. Let it rest for 5-10 minutes until frothy.
- Prepare the dough: In a large bowl, mix flour, remaining sugar, softened butter, and salt. Stir in the frothy yeast mixture to form a soft dough.
- Knead the dough: On a floured surface, knead the dough for 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Incorporate the tutti frutti: Gently fold the tutti frutti into the dough.
- First rise: Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise for 1 to 1.5 hours until doubled in size.
- Shape the buns: Punch down the dough, divide into portions, and roll into balls. Place on a lined baking tray.
- Second rise: Cover with a towel and let rise for another 30-40 minutes.
- Preheat and bake: Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F), brush buns with milk, and bake for 15-18 minutes until golden brown.
- Final touch: Brush with melted butter after baking for a shiny finish.
Notes
Make ahead by preparing the dough a day in advance and refrigerating it. Adjust baking time if using an air fryer.
