Description
A delightful twist on a classic Asian dish, featuring crispy chicken coated in a sweet and spicy sauce, made conveniently in an air fryer.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1.5 pounds boneless, skinless chicken thighs
- 1/2 cup cornstarch
- 1/4 cup low-sodium soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons rice vinegar
- 3 tablespoons brown sugar
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon fresh grated ginger
- 1/2 teaspoon chili flakes (optional)
- 1 teaspoon sesame oil
- 2 stalks green onions, sliced
- Toasted sesame seeds (optional, for garnish)
Instructions
- Trim any excess fat from your chicken thighs and slice them into 1.5-inch bite-sized pieces.
- Dry the chicken pieces with paper towels to eliminate extra moisture, then coat them with cornstarch in a large bowl.
- Preheat your air fryer to 400°F (200°C).
- Arrange the chicken in a single layer in the air fryer basket and air fry for 6-7 minutes. Flip and cook for an additional 6-8 minutes until golden and crispy.
- Whisk together soy sauce, rice vinegar, brown sugar, minced garlic, grated ginger, chili flakes, and sesame oil in a saucepan. Simmer for about 3-4 minutes.
- Transfer the crispy chicken to a large bowl and pour the sauce over, tossing to coat. Garnish with green onions and toasted sesame seeds, and serve immediately.
Notes
Ensure the chicken is well-dried for a crispy texture. You can also prep in advance by coating the chicken in cornstarch a night before.
