Description
Delightful cinnamon rolls filled with chocolate chunks and crushed chocolate sandwich cookies, topped with vibrant blue icing.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tablespoon active dry yeast
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup whole milk
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter
- 1 large egg
- 1/2 cup chocolate sandwich cookies, crushed
- 1/2 cup chocolate chips
- 1/2 cup blue icing
- Additional crushed chocolate sandwich cookies for topping
Instructions
- Prepare the dough: In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, yeast, and salt until evenly combined.
- Combine wet ingredients: Warm the milk and butter gently until the butter melts. Pour this mixture into your bowl with the dry ingredients. Crack in the egg and stir until well incorporated.
- Knead the dough: Turn the dough onto a floured surface. Knead it for about 5 minutes until it transforms into a smooth, elastic ball.
- Let it rise: Shape the dough into a ball and place it in a greased bowl. Cover with a kitchen towel and let it rise in a warm spot for about an hour, or until the dough doubles in size.
- Roll out: Once the dough has risen, roll it out into a rectangle roughly 1/4 inch thick.
- Add the filling: Evenly sprinkle the crushed chocolate cookies and chocolate chips across the dough. Gently press down to adhere.
- Form the rolls: Roll the dough tightly into a log. Slice it into 1-inch thick pieces, revealing layers of deliciousness within.
- Second rise: Place the cinnamon rolls in a greased 9×13-inch dish, ensuring they have room to rise. Let them rest for another 30 minutes.
- Bake: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake the rolls for 20-25 minutes, until they’re golden brown and fragrant.
- Finish and serve: Cool slightly, then drizzle with blue icing and generously sprinkle with crushed chocolate cookies. Enjoy warm.
Notes
Make-ahead tips: Prepare the dough the night before and let it rise in the fridge overnight. Cook in an air fryer for a quicker bake, adjusting time and temperature as needed.
