Description

Delightful cinnamon rolls filled with chocolate chunks and crushed chocolate sandwich cookies, topped with vibrant blue icing.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon active dry yeast
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup whole milk
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/2 cup chocolate sandwich cookies, crushed
  • 1/2 cup chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup blue icing
  • Additional crushed chocolate sandwich cookies for topping

Instructions

  1. Prepare the dough: In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, yeast, and salt until evenly combined.
  2. Combine wet ingredients: Warm the milk and butter gently until the butter melts. Pour this mixture into your bowl with the dry ingredients. Crack in the egg and stir until well incorporated.
  3. Knead the dough: Turn the dough onto a floured surface. Knead it for about 5 minutes until it transforms into a smooth, elastic ball.
  4. Let it rise: Shape the dough into a ball and place it in a greased bowl. Cover with a kitchen towel and let it rise in a warm spot for about an hour, or until the dough doubles in size.
  5. Roll out: Once the dough has risen, roll it out into a rectangle roughly 1/4 inch thick.
  6. Add the filling: Evenly sprinkle the crushed chocolate cookies and chocolate chips across the dough. Gently press down to adhere.
  7. Form the rolls: Roll the dough tightly into a log. Slice it into 1-inch thick pieces, revealing layers of deliciousness within.
  8. Second rise: Place the cinnamon rolls in a greased 9×13-inch dish, ensuring they have room to rise. Let them rest for another 30 minutes.
  9. Bake: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake the rolls for 20-25 minutes, until they’re golden brown and fragrant.
  10. Finish and serve: Cool slightly, then drizzle with blue icing and generously sprinkle with crushed chocolate cookies. Enjoy warm.

Notes

Make-ahead tips: Prepare the dough the night before and let it rise in the fridge overnight. Cook in an air fryer for a quicker bake, adjusting time and temperature as needed.
