Description

Deliciously chewy bread rolls with a slightly crusty exterior and soft, airy interior, perfect for any meal.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons instant yeast
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 ½ cups warm water
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter
  • Coarse salt for topping

Instructions

  1. Mix flour, yeast, salt, and sugar in a large bowl using a wooden spoon until there are no dry ingredients remaining.
  2. Pour in warm water and melted butter. Stir until a rough dough forms.
  3. Transfer the dough onto a floured surface. Knead for about 8–10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  4. Shape dough into a ball, place it in a greased bowl, cover with a towel, and let it rise for about 1 hour.
  5. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  6. Punch down the risen dough and divide it into equal pieces. Shape each piece into a roll and place on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  7. Cover the rolls with a towel and let them rise for another 30 minutes.
  8. Brush rolls with melted butter and sprinkle with coarse salt.
  9. Bake in the oven for 15–20 minutes until golden brown.
  10. Remove from oven, let cool slightly, and serve warm.

Notes

Make-ahead tips: Prepare the dough a day in advance and refrigerate after the first rise. Let it rise at room temperature before baking.
