Description

A delightful dish of yams coated in a sweet and buttery glaze, perfect for holiday gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 medium yams (sweet potatoes)
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup water
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Peel and slice the yams into 1/2 inch thick rounds.
  3. Melt the butter in a large mixing bowl.
  4. Stir in the brown sugar, cinnamon, and salt until blended.
  5. Add the sliced yams to the bowl and toss gently until coated.
  6. Arrange yams in a baking dish, layering them evenly.
  7. Pour the remaining butter mixture over the yams.
  8. Drizzle the water around the edges of the dish.
  9. Cover with aluminum foil and bake for 30 minutes.
  10. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 20-30 minutes, basting occasionally.
  11. Serve warm and enjoy!

Notes

You can prepare the yams a day in advance by assembling everything in the baking dish and refrigerating it. Baste regularly to ensure even caramelization.
