- 4 medium yams (sweet potatoes)
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 cup water
- Pinch of salt
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Peel and slice the yams into 1/2 inch thick rounds.
- Melt the butter in a large mixing bowl.
- Stir in the brown sugar, cinnamon, and salt until blended.
- Add the sliced yams to the bowl and toss gently until coated.
- Arrange yams in a baking dish, layering them evenly.
- Pour the remaining butter mixture over the yams.
- Drizzle the water around the edges of the dish.
- Cover with aluminum foil and bake for 30 minutes.
- Remove the foil and bake for an additional 20-30 minutes, basting occasionally.
- Serve warm and enjoy!
Notes
You can prepare the yams a day in advance by assembling everything in the baking dish and refrigerating it. Baste regularly to ensure even caramelization.
