A comforting dish of creamy mac and cheese enriched with crispy bacon, perfect for enjoying around the campfire.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 oz elbow macaroni
  • 4 cups water
  • 4 oz crispy bacon, chopped
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup milk
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Optional toppings: breadcrumbs, chives

Instructions

  1. Boil water in a large pot over your open fire or camping stove.
  2. Cook pasta according to package instructions until al dente, usually around 8-10 minutes.
  3. Prepare bacon in a cooking pan over the fire until crispy, then set aside.
  4. Drain excess water from the pasta and reduce the heat.
  5. Create the sauce by stirring in milk and shredded cheddar cheese until melted.
  6. Combine ingredients by folding in the crispy bacon.
  7. Season with salt and pepper to enhance flavors.
  8. Serve hot and top with optional breadcrumbs or chives, if desired.

Notes

For a vegetarian option, omit the bacon and consider adding sautéed mushrooms or a variety of vegetables.
