Description

A luxurious twist on the classic grilled cheese, featuring smoky salmon and melted cheese on perfectly toasted bread.


Ingredients

  • 2 slices sourdough or whole grain bread
  • 2 slices sharp cheddar or Gruyère cheese
  • 23 ounces smoked salmon
  • Butter (for spreading)
  • Optional: fresh dill or chives (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Heat your skillet: Begin by preheating a non-stick skillet over medium heat.
  2. Butter the bread: Generously spread butter on one side of each bread slice.
  3. Assemble the sandwich: Place one slice of bread, buttered side down, onto the skillet.
  4. Layer the fillings: On top of the bread, add a slice or two of your chosen cheese, followed by 2–3 ounces of smoked salmon.
  5. Top with the second slice: Place the second slice of bread, buttered side up, on top of the salmon.
  6. Cook to perfection: Cook until the bottom is golden brown, about 3-4 minutes.
  7. Flip and cook: Carefully flip the sandwich and cook the other side until it is golden and the cheese has melted, about another 3-4 minutes.
  8. Serve it up: Remove from the skillet, slice in half, and garnish with fresh dill or chives, if desired.
  9. Enjoy warm: Dive in while it’s hot.

Notes

For added richness, consider using cream cheese instead of cheddar. You can also experiment with an air fryer or oven.
