- 1 cup creamy peanut butter
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 24 chocolate kisses, unwrapped
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×9 inch baking pan.
- In a large bowl, mix together the peanut butter, granulated sugar, brown sugar, egg, and vanilla extract until smooth.
- In another bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the peanut butter mixture, stirring until just combined.
- Spread the batter evenly in the prepared baking pan.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes or until the edges are golden brown.
- Remove from the oven and immediately press the chocolate kisses into the center of each bar.
- Allow to cool completely in the pan before cutting into squares.
Notes
- For a nut-free version, substitute peanut butter with sunflower seed butter.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 5 days.
- These bars can be frozen for up to 3 months; just thaw before serving.
