Description

Irish Potato Bread is a traditional Irish dish made with mashed potatoes and flour, resulting in a soft and flavorful bread that is perfect for any meal.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups mashed potatoes
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon butter, melted
  • 1/2 cup milk

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. In a large bowl, combine the mashed potatoes, flour, baking powder, and salt.
  3. Add the melted butter and milk to the mixture and stir until a dough forms.
  4. Turn the dough onto a floured surface and knead gently for a few minutes.
  5. Shape the dough into a round loaf and place it on a baking sheet.
  6. Cut a cross on the top of the loaf to help it cook evenly.
  7. Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes or until golden brown.
  8. Let it cool slightly before slicing and serving.

Notes

  • For a richer flavor, you can add herbs or cheese to the dough.
  • Serve warm with butter or as a side to soups and stews.
