- In a small bowl, combine warm water, active dry yeast, and sugar. Let it sit for about 5 minutes until frothy.
- In a large bowl, whisk together the flour and salt.
- Add the yeast mixture along with melted butter to the dry ingredients. Stir until a dough begins to form.
- On a floured surface, knead the dough for about 5 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Place the kneaded dough in a greased bowl, cover with a kitchen towel, and let it rest for about 1 hour until it has doubled in size.
- Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C).
- Roll out the risen dough, then press it into a greased cast iron skillet.
- Layer mozzarella cheese, crumbled Italian sausage, and pepperoni onto the dough.
- Pour the chunky tomato sauce over the toppings and sprinkle with Italian seasoning.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes until the crust is golden brown and the cheese is bubbling.
- Let it cool for a few minutes before slicing and serving.
