Description

Crockpot Cabbage Roll Casserole is a hearty and flavorful dish that combines all the classic ingredients of cabbage rolls in a convenient slow-cooked format.


Ingredients

  • 1 large head of cabbage, chopped
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 cup cooked rice
  • 1 can (15 oz) tomato sauce
  • 1 can (14.5 oz) diced tomatoes
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1 cup shredded cheese (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a large skillet, brown the ground beef with the chopped onion and minced garlic until fully cooked.
  2. In a large bowl, combine the cooked beef mixture, cooked rice, tomato sauce, diced tomatoes, salt, pepper, paprika, and Italian seasoning.
  3. In the crockpot, layer half of the chopped cabbage at the bottom.
  4. Spread half of the beef mixture over the cabbage layer.
  5. Add the remaining cabbage on top of the beef mixture.
  6. Top with the remaining beef mixture.
  7. Cover and cook on low for 6-8 hours or on high for 3-4 hours.
  8. If using, sprinkle shredded cheese on top during the last 30 minutes of cooking.

Notes

  • Feel free to substitute ground turkey or chicken for a lighter option.
  • This dish can be made ahead of time and stored in the refrigerator before cooking.
  • Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
