Description

Delicious cranberry orange scones with a perfect blend of sweet and tart flavors, ideal for any occasion.


Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed
  • 1 cup fresh cranberries, coarsely chopped
  • 1 tablespoon orange zest
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Mix dry ingredients in a large bowl: whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  3. Cut in the cold butter using a pastry cutter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. Add cranberries and orange zest, gently folding them into the flour mixture.
  5. Mix wet ingredients in another bowl: whisk together the heavy cream, egg, and vanilla extract.
  6. Combine the wet and dry ingredients, stirring until just combined.
  7. Knead the dough briefly on a floured surface, shaping it into a circle about 1 inch thick.
  8. Cut the circle into wedges, placing them on the prepared baking sheet.
  9. Bake for 15-20 minutes until golden brown.
  10. Cool on a wire rack before serving.
