Description

Delightful and fluffy twists filled with cinnamon and sugar, topped with a creamy glaze. Perfect for breakfast or a cozy snack.


Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup milk, warm
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 packet (2 1/4 tsp) active dry yeast
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 12 tablespoons milk (for glaze)

Instructions

  1. Combine warm milk and yeast in a small bowl; let sit for about 5 minutes until frothy.
  2. Add melted butter, granulated sugar, brown sugar, and salt; stir until combined.
  3. Incorporate the flour gradually until a soft dough forms; knead on a floured surface for 5-7 minutes until smooth.
  4. Cover the dough with a damp cloth and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour until doubled.
  5. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  6. Roll the dough into a rectangle; brush with melted butter and sprinkle the cinnamon-sugar mixture over it.
  7. Cut the dough into 1-inch wide strips; twist and place on a prepared baking sheet.
  8. Bake for 15-20 minutes until golden brown.
  9. Whisk together powdered sugar, vanilla extract, and milk for the glaze; drizzle over warm twists.

Notes

For make-ahead, the dough can rise in the refrigerator overnight. Experiment with different fillings!
